This summer has gone down as the hottest on record here in South Korea.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on Thursday, the nationwide average temperature from June to August was 25.7 degrees Celsius.
That's two degrees above the average for the period 1973 to 2024 and it is 0.1 degrees higher than the previous record, set last year.
The country saw repeated heat waves and heavy rain, with some regions hit by floods while others faced drought.
