Hyundai, Kia report strong performances in the U.S. for August

Despite the continued impact of U.S. tariffs, South Korean carmakers Hyundai Motor and Kia recorded strong performances in the U.S. for the second consecutive month in August.

Hyundai Motor America reported on Wednesday that its total sales in August reached 88-thousand-523 vehicles, a 12 percent increase compared to the same month last year, and an all-time record for August.

Kia America also delivered good news with total sales of 83-thousand-and-7, a 10-point-4 percent increase over August last year, and also setting a new best-ever monthly record.

Electric vehicles accounted for the success of both automakers.
