September is starting on a rainy note.

It was a rough Monday morning commute for those of us in the capital area, with strong rain of 10 to 40 millimeters per hour pounding down.

The capital area and northern inland Gangwon could see up to 100 millimeters of rain or more, until this afternoon, while the rest of the country could see on and off rain lingering into tomorrow.

However, the east coast of Gangwon-do will only get around 5 millimeters, which will not be enough to ease the dryness they have been dealing with.

A heavy rain advisory is in place for the capital area and a heavy rain warning has been issued for the mountainous regions in Jeju.

Heatwave alerts continue in southern provinces.

And this afternoon, Daegu and Gyeongju get up to 33 degrees Celsius, Seoul and Chuncheon top out at 29 degrees.

Central regions stay mostly sunny the rest of the week, and we can look forward to much more comfortable temperatures next week for sure!
