More than 1,000 people were evacuated from parts of Mumbai and Maharashtra state, and around 800 individuals who were stranded on a monorail were rescued on Tuesday.
All public transport services in Mumbai, including local trains, resumed normal operations on Wednesday morning after a 15-hour disruption.
The India Meteorological Department issued an orange alert for Mumbai and its neighboring districts on Wednesday, indicating that moderate to heavy rainfall is expected throughout the day.
