Trump says no ground troops, but maybe air support for Ukraine

U.S. President Donald Trump said Tuesday he has ruled out sending American troops to fight in Ukraine, but suggested Washington could provide air support as part of a broader peace deal to end the war with Russia.

Speaking to Fox News, Trump said while "Europeans are willing to put people on the ground," the U.S. is willing to help them "probably, by air."

However, the U.S. president did not elaborate further.

The comments came a day after Trump pledged security guarantees for Kyiv during a White House summit with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and leaders of NATO member countries.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed air support is "an option and a possibility," but, like Trump, offered no further details.
