A Seoul court held a hearing today on the arrest request against former first lady Kim Keon Hee.
Kim faces charges of stock manipulation, interference in party nominations, and influence-peddling.
Prosecutors say there is a high risk of evidence tampering if she is not arrested.
After the four-hour hearing at the Seoul Central District Court, Kim was moved to Seoul Southern Detention Center to await the court's decision.
A decision could come as early as tonight, and if granted, it would mark the first time in the country's history that a former president and first lady are detained simultaneously.
