Do you have a "bukae"? In recent years, it’s become a trend to have an "alternate character" or "side character" (if you'd directly translate the Korean word) especially in the entertainment industry. So that’s comedians becoming singers, actors becoming chefs, or athletes becoming entertainers. Today, we invite a football player into the studio, whose "bukae" is a singer. It’s Pablo David Sabbag Daccarett or well-known as Pablo Sabbag, from the K League's Suwon FC. Welcome Pablo/Mr. Sabbag!
1) Thank you for taking your time out of your busy schedule, right in the middle of the K League season. Please, say hello to our viewers out there and tell us what you have been up to lately.
2) You were born in Colombia, and started your football career there, but also play for the Syria national team, (as you are of Syrian descent) and now you’re in Korea!
Tell as bit about your football journey and how your career brought you to Korea. Also, are you happy with your life and work in Korea right now?
3) Okay, now let’s shift gears from your main job to your “bukae”, or alternate character as a singer. You recently released a song titled “SEOUL”, inspired by K-pop music ? Please tell us about it.
3-1) Could you teach us the main part of the chorus a little bit?
4) The song evolves around Seoul and the music video was taken in places of the city. Was there any memorable episode you want to share while making the song and the music video?
5) Apart from “SEOUL” you also released a number of other songs. How did it all start? And how does it feel when you hear your own songs being played in the football stadium at times?
6) You are from Colombia and of Syrian descent as far as I know. How much is K-pop known in those countries?
7) Do you have a role model in the world of K-pop or a favorite K-pop singer or group?
8) Finally, what are your goals as professional footballer and your goals as singer?
A) Some fans say why did you sing about Seoul not Suwon? Could we anticipate a Suwon song too?
B) What was your childhood dream? When did your interest for football and singing begin?
C) Are there any other fields of interest that you would love to try out?
D) Any final words to your fans?
Thank you very much for sharing your story with us Pablo and we wish you a successful and happy career in Korea. Thank you Walter, we'll see you back soon.
Thank YOU for spending the past half an hour with us on "the Kulture Wave", for your daily dose of K-culture issues.
