Netanyahu reiterates goal of ending Gaza war

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says the expansion of military operations in Gaza seeks to end NOT prolong the war against Hamas.

Addressing members of the media the Israeli leader stressed that Israel has no desire to occupy Gaza but wishes to "liberate" it.

He further noted that he ordered the military to accelerate the seizing of Gaza from Hamas control to end the war swiftly.

Back last week he reaffirmed the five goals of Israeli operation in Gaza including the disarmament of Hamas, the return of all hostages, the demilitarization of Gaza, Israeli security control over the territory and the establishment of an alternative civilian government not linked to Hamas or the Palestinian Authority.
