Tsunami warnings across the Pacific, including Hawaii, Japan, and parts of the U.S. West Coast, have been significantly downgraded as the risk of tsunamis subsides.
On Wednesday, an 8.8-magnitude quake struck Russia's Kamchatka coast, prompting tsunami alerts across North America's Pacific coast and other parts of the Pacific.
However, the warnings have now been downgraded or removed as the tsunami threat has diminished.
Authorities emphasized continued caution and avoiding water because of the ongoing aftershocks and risk of strong currents.
Meanwhile, alerts are still in place in Chile, and evacuations had been ordered in parts of Ecuador, Peru, Chile, and the Galapagos Islands.
