Kim Hye-Soon becomes first Asian to win Germany’s International Literature Prize

Poet Kim Hye-Soon has made history as the first Asian to win Germany's prestigious International Literature Prize.

The announcement was made on Thursday, by the Haus der Kulturen der Welt, or House of World Cultures.

Kim's winning work, The Autobiography of Death, was praised for its rhythmic depth and ability to illuminate the unspoken truths of life and death.

Currently in South Korea, Kim expressed her gratitude virtually, thanking the translators, judges, and organizers for the recognition.
