President Lee calls for new control tower for defense industry

Marking the 1st K-Defense day, President Lee Jae Myung asked his Cabinet to review creating a control tower to nurture the nation's defense industry.

This came... as Lee presided over a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday morning, where he also asked officials to review instituting a related strategy meeting as a regular event to boost arms exports,... noting the importance of the industry for the economy and national defense.

He called for pan-governmental efforts to make Korea one of the world's top four powerhouses in the defense industry,... in areas of manpower, R&D, and overseas markets.
