South Korea's National Security Adviser Wi Sung-lac met with U.S. Secretary of State and National Security Adviser Marco Rubio on Wednesday on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in the Netherlands.

The two agreed on the need to arrange a bilateral summit as soon as possible and to maintain close contact.

They also discussed ways to strengthen further what they referred to as the "successful alliance" between Seoul and Washington.

While attending the two-day summit on behalf of President Lee Jae-myung, Wi held one-on-one talks with Japan's foreign minister as well as top national security and foreign policy advisers from the Czech Republic and the Netherlands, to explore ways to deepen cooperation.
