Tell us more.

Right. Colombian senator Miguel Uribe Turbay remains in critical condition after he was shot twice in the head.

The 39-year-old right-wing politician, from the country's largest opposition party, has entered "the critical hours" of recovery after surgery.

Uribe, who had expressed his intention to run in next year's presidential election, was addressing supporters in a park on Saturday when he was shot, allegedly by a 15-year-old boy carrying a pistol.

Uribe was airlifted to hospital, which said on Sunday morning that surgical procedures have been completed and he remains in intensive care.

The suspect was arrested at the scene, and authorities are investigating whether others are involved.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro condemned the attack, calling it a threat to "democracy and freedom in Colombia."
