No emergency communication before deadly Navy aircraft crash in Pohang

A Navy P-3CK maritime patrol aircraft crashed on a mountain in Pohang Gyeongsangbuk-do Province Thursday afternoon.

All FOUR Navy officers on board were killed.

Authorities say there had been normal communication between the aircraft and the control tower up until one minute before the fatal crash and that there had been no emergency indication.

The cockpit voice recorder has been retrieved and authorities believe the data within may offer insight into the cause of the crash.

An investigation has been launched and in the meantime all P-3 patrol aircraft operations have been suspended.
