The United Nations Security Council will hold a meeting on Wednesday, local time, to discuss North Korea's non-proliferation issues.
The UN headquarters announced that the meeting will be held at the request of seven member states, including South Korea, the United States and five other countries.
It is expected to review North Korea's violation of UNSC resolutions, and sanctions placed on the regime.
The gathering also comes after the UN Panel of Experts on North Korea ended its term last year, with Russia, a permanent member of the UNSC, vetoing the extension of its term.
