In Brazil, Sister Inah Canabarro Lucas, recognized as the world's oldest person, has died at the age of 116.
Sister Inah passed away on April 30 in Porto Alegre due to natural causes.
Born in 1908, Lucas became a Catholic nun in her early 20s and devoted her life to religious service and teaching.
She joined the Teresian Sisters religious community in 1927 and spent decades educating students.
Sister Inah was blessed by the late Pope Francis in 2018.
She attributed her longevity to her faith, saying that "He is the secret of life."
With her passing, 115-year-old Ethel Caterham in England now holds the title of oldest living person.
