Supreme Court starts full bench review of election violation of DP's likely presidential candidate

The Supreme Court on Tuesday started reviewing the election violation case against DP's likely presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung as a full bench.

This means the Court is taking the case more seriously than others due to the level of public interest.

Usually, Supreme Court cases are overseen by four justices out of the 13.

For this case, however, one of the justices has requested to be recused from the bench as he leads the National Election Commission.

Lee faces charges of spreading false information regarding urban development projects ahead of the 2021 presidential election.

An initial guilty verdict was overturned on appeal last month.
