Pope Francis met with U.S. Vice President JD Vance for a brief meeting at the Vatican on Easter Sunday morning.
During the informal encounter, the two exchanged Easter greetings and briefly discussed themes such as international tensions and migration issues.
They had previously clashed over a few Trump administration policies, including the deportation of migrants, which the Pope called a "disgrace."
Vance held more formal talks over the weekend with senior Vatican officials, but the Pope did not participate.
Later in the day, the pontiff briefly appeared at St. Peter's Square, marking his return after recovery from pneumonia, and delivered his Easter message, read aloud by an aide.
