S. Korea sees leverage in shipbuilding and LNG with U.S. trade talks

And ahead of South Korea-U.S. tariff talks, Seoul's Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul said South Korea is trying to reach good outcomes through talks on industries like shipbuilding and LNG.

During his visit to Vietnam, Cho said that President Trump specifically mentioned those sectors.

He said these are areas where only countries like South Korea or Japan can really compete, giving the country strong "leverage."

Minister Cho also said the Trump administration seems to want to prioritize talks with certain countries for better results, and that South Korea plans to stay in close contact with Vietnam in responding to U.S. tariffs.
