Nationwide memorials mark 11th anniversary of Sewol ferry disaster

Today marks the 11th anniversary of the Sewol ferry disaster, which claimed 304 lives.

Memorial services were held nationwide, including in Ansan city, home to Danwon High School.

At 4:16 PM, a moment of silence was observed as a siren sounded across Ansan, from where 261 victims, mostly students and teachers from Danwon High School, were lost.

The remembrance ceremony began at 3 PM, with survivors, survivors, family members, and citizens paying tributes and reading letters to the lost.

Similar services were held in Incheon, Seoul, and other cities as the country remembers the victims.
