11th anniversary memorial ceremony to take place at site of Sewol Ferry disaster

Today that is April 16th Korea marks 11 years since the sinking of the Sewol Ferry that claimed the lives of 3-hundred-4 people mostly high school students on a graduation trip.

A memorial service was held earlier this morning by the April 16th Foundation on a boat close to where the ferry sank in Jindo-gun Jeollanam-do Province.

A similar event also took place in the afternoon at the Sewol Ferry Memorial Hall in Paengmokhang Port near the site of the tragedy.

Other organizations held memorials nationwide including in Ansan Gyeonggi-do Province as most of the victims were students at a high school there.
