Also in the United States, consumer prices fell by 0.1% in March, marking the first monthly decline in nearly five years.
The decrease was primarily driven by a 6.3% drop in gasoline prices and reduced costs for used vehicles, airline fares, and hotel accommodations.
The annual inflation rate eased to 2.4%, its lowest since September 2021, while core inflation, excluding food and energy, rose by just 0.1%.
However, economists caution that this relief may be temporary, with new tariffs expected to exert upward pressure on prices in the coming months.
