Top diplomats from Seoul, Beijing address Xi Jinping's potential visit to S. Korea

Ahead of trilateral talks between the top diplomats of South Korea, Japan, and China scheduled for this weekend in Tokyo, Seoul's foreign minister Cho Tae-yul today sat down separately with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi.

During the 50-minute long meeting, they decided to work towards a visit to South Korea by Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend the APEC summit later this year.

The two sides also agreed to make efforts to restore cultural exchanges.

This comes after China started to restrict the distribution of Korean movies, dramas, and all other forms of pop culture in 2016, in retaliation to Korea's deployment of U.S. THAAD missile defense systems.
