Russia's top security official, Sergei Shoigu, has arrived in North Korea for high-level talks, according to Russian state media.
The Security Council Secretary reportedly arrived in Pyongyang on Friday and is expected to meet with leader Kim Jong-un during his visit.
This marks his first trip to the regime in about six months.
His arrival comes as military cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang deepens, especially after a North Korean troop deployment to Russia.
Observers are also watching to see whether a possible visit by Kim to Moscow will be discussed.
