The National Assembly is set to ask the government to come up with a draft for a supplementary budget within this month.
This came on Tuesday after Speaker Woo Won-shik held a meeting with the floor leaders of the ruling People Power Party and the main opposition the Democratic Party of Korea.
DP lawmaker Park Sung-joon argued that the government has been passive when it comes to a supplementary budget, so the two main parties felt the need to urge the government to create one.
PPP lawmaker Park Hyung-joon added that the authority to draft a supplementary budget lies with the government, so the Parliament cannot force it to submit a proposal by a certain deadline, but the intention is to fully coordinate with the government.
