South Korea's Trade Minister Ahn Duk-geun is visiting the U.S. to push for tariff exemptions from the Trump administration.
Starting Wednesday, Ahn will spend three days in Washington, D.C., meeting with government officials, including those from the Department of Commerce.
He is seeking exemptions from the 25 percent tariffs on steel and other items and will request South Korea's exclusion from reciprocal tariffs set to take effect on April 1.
He will also propose ways to enhance cooperation between Korea and the U.S. in sectors such as shipbuilding and energy.
