In Europe, the Baltic states of Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia, have officially disconnected from the Russian electricity grid and joined the European Union's energy system.
The transition on Sunday, which had been planned for several years, marks the end of their dependence on the Soviet-era energy network and aims to improve regional energy security.
The move was celebrated in a ceremony attended by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The merge involved disconnecting from Russia on Saturday and operating as an independent energy grid for 24 hours before linking to the EU grid through connections with Poland, Finland, and Sweden.
