2 people killed in knife attack in Germany

Beginning in Germany today, two people were killed in a stabbing attack.

Right. Police arrested a 28-year-old Afghan man for stabbing a boy and a man to death in a park in the Bavarian city of Aschaffenburg, on Wednesday.

The suspect, previously known for violent behavior and detained a few times, assaulted the group of children with a kitchen knife, killing a 2-year-old boy and a 41-year-old man who was trying to protect the children.

Two others were seriously injured and moved to hospital for treatment.

While authorities are investigating the motive for the attack, initial assessments suggest mental health issues.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz condemned the attack as an "unbelievable act of terror" and stressed the need for accountability regarding the suspect's residency status.
