S. Korea welcomes ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas, hopes for swift implementation

South Korea has welcomed the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas, which comes following 15 months of war.

This is according to the foreign ministry on Thursday.

The ministry said it hopes the agreement can be implemented swiftly so that all hostages can be released and the humanitarian situation in Gaza improves.

Seoul hopes discussions on diplomatic solutions for peace and stability in the region will start.

The ministry added that South Korea will continue actively participating in the international community's efforts to restore and promote peace in the region as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
