Washington says the deployment of North Korean troops to Russia's frontline region makes the fighting "much harder" for Ukrainian forces.
According to Pentagon spokesperson Major General Pat Ryder on Monday, North Korean troops are "relatively well disciplined and competent," adding that the 12 thousand troops sent by Pyongyang is a significant number that makes it much more difficult for Ukraine.
He added that the U.S. is focused on working with the international community to make sure Ukraine has sufficient help to defend itself.
Meanwhile, Ryder said the Pentagon continues to monitor the possibility of further troop deployment by North Korea closely.
